The 6th international literature festival berlin

The 6th international literature festival berlin (ilb) will take place this year from the 5th to the 16th of September. The ilb has become one of the world's largest and most renowned literature festivals. Last year alone the broad spectrum of international literature the festival presents was attended by more than 32000 visitors, who enjoyed the diversity of distinguished authors, and an extensive programme of readings, discussions and events.

Interesting new authors will take their place alongside established writers of world literature. During twelve days, and approximately 300 events, more than 100 authors will enable glimpses into new and traditional developments within world-literature.

Unusual locations such as cemeteries and jailhouses are as much a part of the programme as classic prose and poetry, conversations with authors, political discussions and literature for children and young people. The ilb is a lively, polyglot forum for literary enthusiasts and those who wish to become more involved.

One of the focuses this year is on "Francophone Literature". Writers from regions as diverse as the Caribbean, the Maghreb and Sub-Saharan Africa will visit the festival and provide insights into the diversity of francophone literatures. Doris Lessing, Isabel Allende, Irene Dische, David Grossman, Jorge Semprún, Vikram Seth, Lauren Child and Jostein Gaarder are participating in this year's international literature festival berlin, as many other international authors and guests.
