2010 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship

Germany is going crazy for ice hockey. From 7 to 23 May 2010, the cream of the sport's top leagues will be appearing at the modern arenas in Mannheim, Cologne and Gelsenkirchen for the IIHF World Championships. 16 national sides starring players from the North American, Russian and European federations will be battling it out for the prestigious title and showing exactly what makes this intense, action-packed sport so popular.

Fans of women's football excited about the FIFA Women's World Cup Germany 2011™ can indulge their passion for the beautiful game one year beforehand at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup 2010, which takes place from 13 July to 1 August 2010 at stadiums in Augsburg, Bielefeld, Bochum and Dresden. It's a chance for the future stars of women's football to showcase their talent on the big stage. The Chairman of FIFA's Organising Committee for the U-20 World Cup is none other than the "Kaiser" himself, Franz Beckenbauer, who happily reported: "U-20 teams are always looking to put the ball in the back of the net, so fans can look forward to lots of attacking football and a high-scoring World Cup."

The next Gay Games take place in Cologne. From 31st Juli to 7 August 2010 around 12.000 participants from all over the world will compete in 30 sport disciplines and demonstrate tolerance. "Be part of it!" is the slogan of edition VIII of the Gay Games in Cologne in 2010. Everybody can take part, independently from his or her sexual orientation. It just does not matter, if you are heterosexual, homosexual, transgender or transsexual.
Four first-class cultural events support this sport event.

FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2011

There is no other place in Germany representing Alpine Skiing like Garmisch-Partenkirchen. With pride and enthusiasm Garmisch-Partenkirchen are currently preparing to be the venue for the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships which will take place from 6 to 20 February 2011. The intention is to inspire thousands of visitors and spectators with spectacular ski racing, emotional experiences, friendly hospitality and perfect organization.

Germany is a country of women's football! After hosting the 2006 FIFA World™, Germany holds the FIFA Women's World Cup™ 2011 in nine venues. The opening ceremony and the Opening Match will take place in Berlin on 26 June. The tournament continues in Augsburg, Bochum, Dresden, Frankfurt, Leverkusen, Monchengladbach, Sinsheim and Wolfsburg.  The Final takes place on 17 July in Frankfurt. "Fans in Germany can look forward to a joyful and top-quality festival of world football. Just like the fairytale in summer 2006, the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 will further enhance the image and reputation of our nation," commented DFB President Dr. Theo Zwanziger.

Thirty-two years after the last football World Cup in Germany, the 2006 FIFA World Cup took again place in Germany. For the first time after the reunification of both German states, the entire world looked to the New Germany, situated at the heart of Europe.
 
Four weeks of fantastic football have come to an end. We have seen great matches, high emotions and it really has been "A time to make friends". But the party isn't over yet! .......
