Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story

Scene from BUDDY - The musical: Buddy Holly and his band Copyright: Stage Entertainment
Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story celebrates the very short but eventful life of Buddy Holly, an ordinary boy from Texas whose enthusiasm for Rock 'n' Roll made him famous around the world. The influence of his distinctive style can still be felt today. Buddy Holly was a consummate musician and his unmistakable Rock 'n' Roll sound made music history.

The show portrays the most important events of his life, starting with his first performance, the studio recording sessions in Nashville that led to his big break and his triumphant appearance at New York's Apollo Theater. He also meets the love of his life. A plane crash on a tour with Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper leads to his sudden, untimely death.

Buddy Holly's hits, including Peggy Sue, That'll Be The Day and Not Fade Away, along with Ritchie Valens' La Bamba and Donna are still popular today and provide the musical highlights of the show. The legend lives on.

Since 1985, Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story has captivated an audience of more than 20 million around the world. Three million people saw it during its six year run in Hamburg alone, and Alan James' musical has been a celebrated international success on Broadway in New York, in London's West End, in Australia and in Canada.
