It's going to be another long night as 92 of Berlin's museums take part in the annual Museums Night. This event in the German federal capital, held for the 27th time in 2010, is sure to attract thousands of visitors once again. This year the venues include six synagogues that are participating for the first time, while the main theme is the 200th anniversary of the independence of eight Latin American countries. Plenty of culture for everyone.

Thuringia - history and nature in the heart of Germany

Tier: Wartburg; Copyright: Merten, Hans Peter
What do Martin Luther and Johann Sebastian Bach have in common? Both loved the town of Eisenach, which was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 1999. Just like Weimar, Erfurt, Jena and Gera, it has many stories to tell of great historical figures. Thuringia is also famous for its beautiful, unspoilt countryside: the Thuringian Forest and the Slate Mountains nature reserve are sheer heaven for nature lovers.

St. James' Pilgrimage Way in the Palatinate

Speyer: Cathedral; Copyright: Speyer, Tourist Information
The path is the true destination, and the destination is the path - this old saying certainly holds true for the Palatinate pilgrimage route. It starts on a high note at the imperial cathedral in Speyer, which gives a first indication of how the soul is going to be awakened and enriched over the miles to follow, while every step and each of the six stages bring the pilgrim closer to the tomb of St. James the Apostle.
